Kivalliq-the central region of Canada’s Nunavut Territory

Baker Lake is the only inland community in Nunavut. It is the geographical center of Canada, and some may say the mosquito capital of the world. The community is situated on the northwest side of Baker Lake. Some of the most challenging and remote rivers are located in the Baker Lake area: the Thelon, Kazan, and the Back River.

Exploring the wilderness around Baker Lake can be exciting, but also challenging. The weather is known to change quickly.

Baker Lake is home to the world renowned Jessie Oonark center, where many artists turn out beautiful prints that are available to all who wishes to purchase one.
